The one-day Basic Carbine course has been developed to introduce students to The Benjamin Guard methodology and weapons handling required to safely carry, control, handle, and operate the carbine. The course is designed to provide the entry-level shooter with a good understanding of firearms safety and the core skills of protective carbine employment. Students will gain vital knowledge on the AR platform and ammunition selection for protective applications as well as the weapons capabilities and limitations. Students will be challenged with techniques that will create a reliable and systematic foundation in shooting fundamentals preparing them to advance to The Benjamin Guard’s Combat Carbine Course.

- Zero & marksmanship confirmation at distance
Required Equipment
- Rifle w/300rds
- Rifle sling (VTAC recommended)
- Magazines minimum
- Method to carry magazines
- Cleaning kit with oil & rod
- Knee pads
- Spare batteries for all equipment
- Active (digital) hearing protection
- Eye protection
- White light flashlight or headlamp
- Ability to hydrate

Collin Skees
Collin Skees is a veteran of Air Force Special Warfare, serving as a JTAC alongside elite special operations teams. He later worked as a CIA contractor in high-threat environments and served on a tactical task force with Operation Underground Railroad.
Currently, Collin instructs anti-terrorism courses for the U.S. State Department and brings his expertise in tactics and firearms to The Benjamin Guard, delivering top-tier training to military, law enforcement, and civilians.
